With a newborn you never know what to expect in a session. Even though I send out a client prep guide that gives you a ton of tips and tricks (you can see some of the tips I offer here), sometimes babies do not want to sleep when they arrive for their session. While someone who isn’t experienced photographing newborns might start to panic, as a baby whisperer I know how to still get adorable shots of your baby regardless of it they are awake or asleep.

When we first began the session this little cutie decided it was a good time to be awake and checking out the world. It created for some of my most favorite wrapped shots I’ve had for a long time.

Baby Bear

While she started out awake in this pose I eventually got her to sleep. But her Momma was smitten with her cute stare as was I so of course it was a photo that definitely got picked. A deadly cute combo of wide eyes, baby bear ears, and lace, who could resist??

Baby Girl in Pink

Momma specifically asked for a blush pink for her session so of course I was excited to have all the pink (especially after a long string of boy babies before her). The pearls in her headband matched those in her wrapped and makes her look really sweet.

Beautiful Baby Portraits

Neutrals have been a must-have color option asked for by my clients as of late. While I am used to so many boy moms asking for grey, I actually haven’t gotten a ton of requests for it on baby girls. I really wanted to make sure that using grey still gave a girly feel that show off this beauty’s delicate features (I mean look at her beautiful long lashes and little lips), and I feel like with the criss-cross wrap, tiny bows, and giant bow headband it did just that.

Boho Chic Newborn Photos

Baby K. was just starting to wake up again when we started this set but I was determined because I knew it was going to be beautiful. I am already a huge fan of neutrals and cream on both boy and girl babies, but having different layers of white and cream mixed together created the perfect boho dreamy vibe. I loved working the different angles and really being able to capture some of her details which was requested from her parents, like her cute little toes.
