I love personalizing newborn baby sessions for parents and really making them unique to each family and personality. But at the base of every newborn session is a number of newborn poses, wrapping styles, and props you’ll often see me use for my newborn sessions. What I end up using for a newborn photoshoot depends on a baby’s temperament and what they’ll let me do during a session, parents tastes, and what best makes the session fit together. 

Sweet Little One

I love doing beanbag (or in my case, dog bed) poses with newborn babies. These poses are the best way to capture all of their details (the back rolls, itty bitty toes, fuzzy hair), show off exactly how tiny they are, and really allow your baby on their own to shine. 

Baby Swaddle

In every Edmonton newborn baby photo session I do I ALWAYS will swaddle a baby. Wrapping a babe is perfect when you have a baby that won’t settle, to get to go to sleep, and to give a session variety. There are a ton of different types of wrapping techniques I will use in a newborn session, and I’m constantly learning new ones to use all the time, but these ones are some of my favorites!

Newborn Props

Newborn prop shots are always a fav with parents. These are the ones that I get to really exercise my creativity and design some unique set ups specifically for the family I’m working with. Who can resist a baby in a tiny little bed just their size or a babe sleeping in a bucket! These are the different types of newborn props that I use during a session and I have lots of variety of each of these types of props and am constantly adding to my collection.
